Xolisa Tyali gunning for the 2017 World Cross Country championships

This past Saturday, 07 May 2016 Central Gauteng Athletics hosted its 2nd Cross Country league at Ebuhleni Park in Tembisa. A great turnout and wonderful atmosphere in the new venue which allowed the community support and spectatorship.

In the senior men 10km event, Xolisa Tyali of Nedbank Running Club won the event clocking 29:30, in an interview he confirmed that this year he wants to work harder in cross country as he is gunning to go to the World Cross Country Championships in 2017. He further elaborated that he plans to become the national champ at this year’s SA Cross Country Championships which will score him a spot in the national team that will be going to Kampala, Uganda next year for the World Championships.

The competition is now set and is anticipated to heat up with the upcoming leagues. Only one question is asked, will Xolisa Tyali be this year’s provincial champ or will Mbongeni Ngxazozo defend his title in the 10km event? It will take true determination and focus for Xolisa to achieve his goal.

The 3rd CGA Cross Country league will be held on Saturday, 14 May 2016 at Chris Hani Sports Complex in Orange Farm.
