CGA to host its 3rd League at UJ Athletics Stadium

Central Gauteng Athletics will be hosting the 3rd league meeting of the season at University of Johannesburg Athletics Stadium (UJ Athletics Stadium Auckland Park) this weekend. This is following a double booking at Germiston Stadium. The 3rd League will take place this weekend, 11 February 2017 commencing at 13h00.

The UJ Athletics Stadium is one of the most beautiful athletics track in the province which was revamped about 2 years ago. This stadium has produced a number of international athletes. Track and Field Commission is delighted to host its meeting at the venue.

With a focus and building up to the provincial and national championships, athletes will be gearing up to exhibiting exceptional performance in the quest to be selected to represent the province at the South African National Championships and also stand a chance at represent South Africa at various International championships such as the 2017 World Championships to be held in London later this year.

We would like to thank all the athletes, coaches and clubs that have been using the Pre-Entry system for the past 2 leagues. We would appreciate if clubs can assist to communicate this system to athletes and encourage athletes to enter via their respective clubs. Herewith please find the attached updated Pre-Entry form and Program 2 for this weekend. The Pre Entries for this weekend will be closing on Thursday, 9 February 2017.

CGA Hosts yet another thrilling Track and Field League

Central Gauteng Athletics hosted the 2nd league meeting of 2017 Track and Field season this past Saturday, 21 January 2017 at Germiston Stadium.

The league meeting was graced by just over 1000 athletes and spectators, the athletes are making their intentions quite clear for the 2017 season which is pushing themselves to the limit. The second league also served as trails for the junior women to prove their fitness in the 5000m event in order to be selected for the final team that will be competing at the CAA Southern Region Cross Country Championships and IAAF World Cross Country Championships respectively.

Judging by the past two opening leagues of the season, it shows that athletes are ready for the CGA Championships in March as we prepare for the 3rd Track and Field League 11 February 2017 at Germiston Stadium which promises to be yet another competitive and intriguing affair.

2017 CGA Track and Field season open with a bang

Central Gauteng Athletics Track and Field commission hosted the very successful first league meeting of the season, on 14 January 2017 at Germiston Stadium.

The season’s return was well support by athletes of all age groups with exceptional performances building up to towards their selection for the different Championships to represent the province at the South Africa championships and also a chance to represent South Africa at various International championships such as the 2017 World Championships to be held in London later this year.

We would like to thank all the athletes, coaches and clubs that sent their Pre- Entries, we have however noted that there are still a number of athletes that had not Pre-Entered. We will once again edge clubs to assist athletes to Pre Entries.  We further request that Athletes send their entries via their clubs so that we do not just receive individuals entries but a club entries, the entry form must not be sent in pdf format but in an excel format.

NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT AS FROM THE 21ST OF JANUARY 2017 THE CGA TRACK AND FIELD GATE ENTRY FEE FOR BOTH ATHLETES AND SPECTATORS WILL INCREASE TO R20 PER PERSON.  PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS GATE ENTRY FEE WILL BE R30 PER PERSON.
