Central Gauteng Athletics proudly hosted the 3rd league of the 2025 Cross Country season at the Dobsonville Multi-Purpose Centre on Saturday, 31 May 2025 in collaboration with Harambe Athletics Club. The event was marked by outstanding participation and competitive spirit across all age groups.
The day kicked off with the Girls Under-13 race, setting an energetic tone for the rest of the day. Ofentse Mothapo of Kopano dominated the event to secure the 1st position in the time of 13:01. In the second position it was Mia Van Huyssteen in the time of 13:13. Settling for the third position was Minenhle Kgapola clocking 13:33. These young athletes displayed impressive talent and determination, drawing enthusiastic support from the crowd.
Among the highlights was the Junior Women’s 2km race, where rising stars battled it out in a tight contest that showcased the depth of talent of the province, with Courtney Sole of Boxer leading the race and crossing the finish line in the time of 08:33. Claiming the second position was Sole’s teammate Tshenolo Sebueng in the time of 08:34. Representing Fourways Road Runners was Loghan Gray in the time of 08:37.
The senior categories featured some of CGA’s most prominent athletes, in the province who delivered a thrilling performance in a challenging course. The Senior Men’s 4km race saw Boikanyo Motlhamme of UJ claiming the 1st position in the time of 13:08, coming second position was Chris Mhlanga representing Boxer clocking 13:09 followed by Andries Sesedi of Boxer in the time of 13:21 to secure the 3rd position.
CGA extends gratitude to all the participating athletes, coaches, parents, and officials who contributed to making the event a resounding success of this season as we reach the halfway mark. The Dobsonville Multi-Purpose Centre provided an excellent venue, and the positive atmosphere reflecting an overwhelming growth of cross country in the province.
