Central Gauteng Athletics has partnered with local races to incorporate the 2022 Road Running Provincial Championships. The Road Commission has selected the Johnson Crane race on the 6 March 2022 for the Marathon Provincial Championships and the Race to Equality Race on the 12 March 2022 for the Half Marathon and 10km Provincial Championships. See the attached race flyers for more details.

The Provincial Championships are aimed at giving an opportunity to our elite athletes to compete and also to select a provincial team for the National Championships which are scheduled as follows:

  • ASA Marathon Championships – 8 May 2022: Durban
  • ASA Half Marathon Championships – 4 June 2022: Gqeberha
  • ASA 10km Championships – 13 August 2022: Pretoria

As part of motivating our elite runners’, Provincial medals and prize money will be awarded to the top 3 finishers (Gold, Silver, and Bronze). Only CGA-registered athletes will qualify for the Provincial medal and prize money. See the attached prize money breakdown and Qualifying Times.

Athletes can register for both these races at www.PeakTiming.co.za
