Central Gauteng Athletics Women Committee has joined the United Nations in marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence from 25 November to 10 December 2021, under the global theme set by the UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign: “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”. As the CGA Women’s committee we also participate in this awareness.

While pervasive, gender-based violence is not inevitable. It can and must be prevented. Stopping this violence starts with believing survivors, adopting comprehensive and inclusive approaches that tackle the root causes, transform harmful social norms, and empower women and girls.

It starts with us, the so-called emancipated. With survivor-centred essential services across different social sectors and sufficient financing for the women’s rights agenda, we can end gender-based violence.

Help us to support and empower the girl child with our hygiene pack drive by donating any of the following items at your leisure:

  • Sanitary Towels
  • Face cloths
  • Bath soap
  • Tampons
  • Body cream
  • Roll-on Deodorant
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes

You can drop off any of the above items at our CGA offices in Germiston Stadium.

This initiative is our support to underprivileged athletes in uplifting the girl child. The committee in collaboration with CGA Development will be hosting the Young Girls clinic on 8 December 2021 which will also be used to hand over the donated items to young girls in an underprivileged community. Further communication will be sent out regarding the planned handover.
