CGA Women’s Committee Launch Hygiene Drive Project

Central Gauteng Athletics Women’s committee will be launching its great initiatives for 2021 during June. A 5-plan project initiative of the committee will be aimed at broadening the support towards women and young girls, most importantly to encourage women participation in athletics. During the recent track and field season, we have picked up a drastic decline in women participation, which may be due to many challenges women face daily. These projects will assist in better understanding these challenges and extend a helping hand to the upcoming young ladies in our sport.

The first project launch to be piloted with great emphasis on personal hygiene is the Hygiene drive project, which is aimed at collecting donated hygiene packs for young deprived women and distributing them to various beneficiaries within the province. The committee will set up drop-off boxes at the CGA office and all CGA events from 5 June 2021 for donations of Hygiene Products. As part of the beneficiaries of the hygiene products, clubs are requested to identify girls/young women to be a part of the beneficiaries of this project over and above the participants in various CGA Development Programmes.

The Hygiene Packs may include the following items:

Sanitary towels
Face cloths
Bath soap
Tampons
Body cream
Roll-on deodorant
Deodorant
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes

In addition to this exciting initiative from the committee has to be also the Young Girls’ Clinics which the committee will be hosting in conjunction with the CGA Development department. The project will be held throughout the province to host clinics for young girls covering aspects of how they traverse social challenges and sports participation.
