Central Gauteng Athletics is delighted to announce the 2022 CGA Women Seminar to be hosted on the 9th of August, with the theme “Development of the girl child”. The ultimate goal of the Women Seminar is to equip, empower and encourage the participation of women in Athletics.
Moreover, there will be high-profile speakers such as Hloni Mthimkhulu who is a well-known Sports Journalist, Thandy Matlaila who is an actress, fitness fanatic, philanthropist & business woman Alyssa Conley, a former 100m and 200m National Champ and Cia Oldknow National Athlete and the Phalula Twins (Lebo and Lebogang) National athletes of note:
- Women in Coaching
- Administration
- Leadership
- Past and present females athletes
Over and above the Seminar, CGA Women Committee launched a Hygiene Drive project in 2020 with the aim of ensuring that no girl child misses athletics or any sport because of not having sanitary towels or any of the hygiene necessities, therefore the sanitary towels and toiletries will serve the purpose of assisting in that regard.
The Youth Girls clinics programme is one of the beneficiaries of the Hygiene Drive project which is targeted at young girls, especially in previously disadvantaged communities. The day’s activities of the clinics will include a discussion on some of the challenges facing young girls and life skills to empower a girl child to achieve great things.
