Central Gauteng Athletics hosted the last 2023 Track and Field Sub-Youth Meeting at Germiston Stadium on Saturday, 4 November 2023.
The day started on a bad mode as we were confronted with a strike by the stadium staff who did not pitch to open the stadium for the meeting. Despite all odds the meeting continued, and it was a success with exceptional performances and great talent showcased by our athletes building up towards the Inter- Provincial Championships which will be held at the binging of December 2023 in Mpumalanga.
One of the hottest events that fascinated spectators was the Boys under 13 1500m, which Sambo Danson of Warrior of West claimed the first position in the time of 04:41.18, followed by Joshua Jowa of Runzone crossing the finish line in 04:43.93. The 3rd position was claimed by Siyanda Mandlabane in the time of 04:44.04.
Tshoganyetso Moreof Boxer dominated the Girls under 13 800m to clock 2:21.65 to secure a gold medal position. Thato Sesoko of East gave her all to finish in the second position in the time 2:23, while Chelsea Van Dyk of Benoni Northerns settled for third position clocking 2:22.71.
In the field events, another exciting event witnessed has to be Boys under 11 long jump which Jeorge Pretorius dominated with his distance of 4.82 to secure his gold position. Pretorius was followed by Kade Booysen of Boxer who claimed the silver position with a 4.46m jump and settling for the bronze position was Engona Angelo of MCSAC with a jump of 4.41.
The CGA chairperson of Track and Field Maggie Dicks thanked all the athletes, coaches and spectators who took time to come and support the 2023 CGA Sub-Youth season. Overall, all the meeting were a great success and we are happy with the buildup to the Provincial Championships which will be held on the 18th of November 2023 and the Inter Provincials on the 2nd of December 2023.

Entries for the Sub Youth Championships are open and will close on Tuesday, 14 November 2023. The event will be a pre-entry only athletes can enter using this link:

The entry fee for athletes is R 30 and R 50 for Spectators. No temporary licenses will be sold at the championships. All athletes must have two valid 2023 ASA License number. Athletes to report one hour before their respective event to the outside callroom.
No entry fee for CGA Affiliated Coaches, coaches will be required to produce an affiliation card at the gate. No coach will be allowed inside the competition area.
