Central Gauteng Athletics congratulates all athletes who participated at the National 10km Championships which took place in Mbombela, Mpumalanga on Saturday the 4th of November 2023.

As the province we are glad to have athletes who were determined to defend the top position at this year’s Championships with exceptional performances and great team work.Precious Mashele claimed the gold medal in the senior men category clocking the time of 29:13 followed by Chris Mhlanga to claim 2nd position in the time of 29:17. The above duel guaranteed the province take the Gold Team Prize for the senior male category with Andries Sesedi completing the gold team prize in the time of 29:33.

In the Junior Men category, CGA’s upcoming star Zenzile Pheko representing the province extremely well as he bagged a gold medal in his age category. Pheko has been consistent in his performances this year with a Silver medal at National Cross Country Championships and gold medal at the National 5km Championships. 

In the senior women’s race, Cacisile Sosibo gave the race her all to finish second securing a silver medal for the province in the time of 32:48. Sosibo also went on to bag a gold medal at the 2023 Soweto Marathon race clocking 34:00. She has been consistent in her performance in the 2023 season including her performance at the World Half Marathon Championships.

Rirhandzu Rhangani claimed the 1st position in the Veteran category with an impressive time of 30:55. Another highlight and outstanding performance has to be from one of our legends Johannes Malisela Kekana who grabbed a gold medal in the 50-54 age group category clocking a remarkable 34:14. 

Elizabeth Potter came 1st in the 50-59 female category to secure a gold medal for the province in the time of 39:49.
